AI chatbot ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, has gained popularity and currently has over 180 million users worldwide. According to foreign internet users’ revelations, the latest version, GPT-4.5, seems to have quietly gone online.

OpenAI Admits Model’s Decreased Performance and is Developing GPT-5
The AI chatbot ChatGPT, which has been popular around the world, was previously rumored to have GPT-4.5 debuting as early as the end of December. Although it has not been officially confirmed so far, recent revelations from a Reddit forum user in the OpenAI section suggest that GPT-4.5 may have quietly gone online!
The original post has been deleted, but screenshots leaked from the post show that GPT-4.5 is touted as “OpenAI’s most advanced model” with enhanced multi-modal capabilities, optimizing the processing of language, audio, visual, 3D, and video data.
The leaked screenshots reveal three models of GPT-4.5:
GPT-4.5: $0.06 per thousand tokens input, $0.18 per thousand tokens output
GPT-4.5-64k: $0.12 per thousand tokens input, $0.36 per thousand tokens output
GPT-4.5-Audio & Voice: $0.012 per minute input, $0.024 per minute output
GPT-4 Turbo is priced at $0.01 per thousand tokens input and $0.03 per thousand tokens output.

Compared to the GPT-4 Turbo model, the price of GPT-4.5 has increased by a whopping six times, and the price of GPT-4.5-64k has increased by 12 times. Netizens believe that the screenshots are likely from OpenAI’s draft page, indicating a high level of credibility from internal company sources. Many users even speculate that they are currently using GPT-4.5.
According to some users’ sharing, when they ask ChatGPT, “What is the exact name of the model that is answering my API request? Not just ‘ChatGPT with browsing capability,’ but the specific model name,” ChatGPT would respond with “gpt-4.5-turbo.”
However, OpenAI researcher Will DePue debunked the news about gpt-4.5, stating that it is “just a very weird and strange hallucination.” Some netizens also analyzed that this might be related to contamination caused by the prompt “Not ‘ChatGPT with x’,” and people hope ChatGPT would answer “gpt-4.5-turbo” as the response.
In summary, the leaked information about GPT-4.5 has not been officially confirmed by OpenAI. However, when netizens directly asked Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, whether the GPT-4.5 leak was true or false, his informal response of “nah” sparked endless speculation.
Previously, many netizens who used ChatGPT complained about GPT-4 becoming less competent. OpenAI even acknowledged that GPT-4 has indeed become lazy, stating, “We haven’t updated the model since November 11th, and it’s not intentional. The model’s behavior is unpredictable, and we are currently looking for solutions.”
On the other hand, OpenAI announced on November 15th that due to excessive usage exceeding capacity, they decided to temporarily suspend new user registrations for ChatGPT Plus. After nearly a month, they finally announced the resumption of new user registrations for ChatGPT Plus. However, some individuals are concerned that reopening registrations may lead to more cases of crashes or poor performance. If user usage increases again in the future, the problem of GPT-4 becoming lazy and less competent may become even more difficult to solve.
To address these issues, more efficient generative models may be needed. Sam Altman revealed in November that they are developing the next-generation model, GPT-5, but he did not promise a release date. He only mentioned that this new model will require more data for training, including publicly available data on the internet and proprietary data provided by companies.
