Leading decentralized exchange Uniswap announced on the 23rd that it is partnering with Ethereum Name Service (ENS) to launch the domain name service uni.eth. This service allows users to convert hexadecimal Ethereum addresses into readable domain names. Users can claim these domain names for free by downloading the Uniswap mobile wallet app. Currently, over 100,000 domain names have been claimed.
Uniswap, the leading decentralized exchange, announced on the 23rd the launch of the domain name service uni.eth, which allows users to convert 0x addresses into readable Web3 domain names. Uni.eth is built on the ENS infrastructure and uses ENS subdomains, enabling its use in all dApps that support ENS.
Uniswap also announced today that, just a few days after the launch of the uni.eth domain name service, over 100,000 domain names have already been claimed. Uniswap noted that 0x addresses are complex and difficult to read, which leads to a less than ideal user experience. However, domain names change this situation by providing users with easily readable chain addresses for use on Web3. Users can claim their own uni.eth domain names for free in the Uniswap app, making activities on the chain easier.
Registering a uni.eth domain name is quite simple. First, download the official Uniswap wallet app from the App Store or Google Play. Then, follow the official demonstration video to complete the following three steps:
1. Open the Uniswap app (make sure you are using the latest version).
2. Choose “Claim Now” and select a domain name.
3. Add a profile picture, introduction, and social links to provide some information for your personal profile.
It is worth noting that Uniswap has recently become a hot topic in the market. The Uniswap Foundation released an announcement on the 23rd, introducing the latest governance proposal “Activating Uniswap Protocol Governance,” which seeks to distribute protocol fees to UNI token stakers. This significantly enhances the empowerment of UNI. Uniswap’s generated transaction fees are second only to Ethereum, generating over $2 million in fees in the past 24 hours.
Inspired by this proposal, data from CoinGecko shows that the Uniswap governance token UNI surged by 53% within one hour of the announcement, reaching a high of $12.62 on the 24th, the highest since February 2022. At the time of writing, it was trading at $10.83, with a 3.1% increase in the past 24 hours.
