Another independent miner has successfully mined a Bitcoin block using a lottery mining machine! CKPool developer Dr-ck tweeted that a miner, with only 3.3 TH of hashing power from a 480GH Bitaxe mining machine, successfully packaged Bitcoin block 887212 in Solo CKPool. According to calculations, compared to the total network hashing power, the probability of this miner mining a block every 10 minutes was only 1 in 244,036,364.
(Background summary: The lottery mining machine has struck again! The miner received a reward of 180,000 USD in BTC. Is low hashing power truly worth the investment?)
(Additional background: Bitcoin miner independently mined 3.3 BTC! Since July, there have been four miracles with the “lottery mining machine.”)
Another super lucky independent Bitcoin miner has claimed the entire block reward! CKPool developer Dr-ck tweeted that a miner, with only 3.3 TH of hashing power from a 480GH Bitaxe mining machine, successfully packaged Bitcoin block 887212 in Solo CKPool. Based on the current Bitcoin price, this miner received approximately 3.15 BTC (block reward + transaction fees) worth about 244,547 USD:
Congratulations to the super lucky miner bc1qaxccz85rx6ywy2xw6ugtm6u37mvew6qqn7lgtd, who successfully mined the 297th independent block at solo.ckpool.org with just 3.3TH!
He achieved this feat using the 480GH Bitaxe!
Congratulations to a super lucky miner bc1qaxccz85rx6ywy2xw6ugtm6u37mvew6qqn7lgtd with only 3.3TH who solved the 297th solo block at https://t.co/UWgBvLkDqc with a 480GH bitaxe! https://t.co/OKIq0tfSOX

According to the official website, Solo CKPool uses a “Solo Mining” model, which is different from traditional mining pools that concentrate hashing power and then distribute rewards based on contribution ratios. In Solo CKPool, each participant mines independently, and if a block is mined, that miner receives the entire block reward without sharing with other miners. Therefore, the reward for this lucky miner yesterday was quite substantial.
However, the probability of a single mining machine successfully mining a block through Solo Mining is extremely low, and participating in Bitcoin mining with low hashing power may not be worth the investment.
The probability of mining a block is less than one in 200 million. Currently, the total Bitcoin network hashing power is 805.32 EH/s, but CKPool’s hashing power is only 76.3 PH/s, accounting for only 0.0095% of the entire Bitcoin network’s hashing power. Thus, this miner was indeed very fortunate yesterday.
In addition, according to CKPool developers, he reached 3.3 TH of hashing power using the 480GH Bitaxe mining machine, which means that this miner used about 7 units of 480GH Bitaxe for merged mining. At the same time, this also means that the total network hashing power is 244,036,364 times that of the merged mining machine, so the mining machine has about a 1 in 244,036,364 chance of successfully mining a block every 10 minutes. Even on a daily basis, the probability is only about 1 in 1,694,696.
CKPool developer Dr-ck also added:
The probability of a miner of this scale mining a block in a day is less than one in a million, or on average, it takes 3,500 years to mine a block.
Additionally, experts consulted by Dong District stated:
Although CKPool developers claimed that this was mined by an independent miner with 3.3TH of hashing power, the Solo CKPool has up to 30,000 mining addresses mining, including large hashing power. At the same time, the pool page cannot verify whether it was a small miner who independently mined the block (it may have been mined by large hashing power). Therefore, I remain cautious about events with probabilities lower than that of a lottery.
