Binance founder Zhao Changpeng, who is currently awaiting trial, announced today the launch of the education project “Giggle Academy,” which provides free basic education for students from grades 1 to 12. The project will not issue new tokens, but will adopt a system that includes NFT badges to gamify its educational content.
In November last year, Binance reached a historic settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice and other institutions. Zhao Changpeng admitted to charges of violating U.S. anti-money laundering laws, resigned as CEO, and paid $175 million in bail. He is currently awaiting a sentencing hearing scheduled for April 30 and is not allowed to leave the United States.
CZ to launch education platform Giggle Academy
Today, he suddenly tweeted to announce the launch of the education project “Giggle Academy,” which aims to provide free basic education for students from grades 1 to 12. The core concepts include gamified learning experiences and adaptive education mechanisms, without profit as the goal.
Giggle Academy does not yet have an official logo on Twitter. Zhao Changpeng stated that they are currently recruiting team members through giggleacademy.com, and those who join will have the opportunity to work directly with him.
According to the concept document of Giggle Academy, the main goal of the project is to educate impoverished children in developing countries. As a zero-income platform, Giggle Academy plans to use a system that includes points, scores, rankings, and NFT badges to gamify its educational content. The concept document also discusses the possibility of adopting a “learn and earn” system in the future.
In another tweet, Zhao Changpeng clarified that the project will not issue new tokens.
BNB price decline
While Zhao Changpeng announced the launch of the new project, the price of Binance’s platform token BNB did not improve. Influenced by the recent continuous correction of Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency market has generally declined, and BNB has also fallen by 4.8% to $529 in the past 24 hours. Compared to the recent high of $645 on the 16th, it has dropped by more than 17%.
