On April 3, 2024, Taiwan experienced a 7.2 magnitude earthquake. Bitget, a global leading cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company, announced its disaster relief program for users in Taiwan immediately.
Walden Zhang, the regional director of Bitget Taiwan, on behalf of the operations team, issued a statement regarding the earthquake, stating that they have allocated a budget of $500,000 USD as part of the user assistance program for those affected by the earthquake.
Walden stated, “If the disaster continues to expand, Bitget will make additional donations to the earthquake disaster relief fund as soon as it is established. If users in the affected areas have any material needs, Bitget will immediately provide assistance and support to all affected users.”
Bitget also announced that all users in Taiwan who have suffered financial losses or personal injuries during the earthquake can apply for disaster relief funds of up to $100 USD equivalent by filling out a form on the Bitget official website.
After a natural disaster, when people need additional funds to help meet medical supplies, food, and other basic needs, traditional banking services are often inaccessible.
Cryptocurrency transfers are increasingly being used to provide economic assistance to disaster victims because they offer fast, low-cost, borderless, and transparent transactions.
The Bitget team hopes that the impact of this earthquake can be minimized, and that all Taiwanese people can safely overcome this difficult time.
