Bitget, a leading global cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company, has announced the appointment of Gracy Chen as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The appointment will take effect in May 2024, replacing Sandra Lou, who is leaving the platform to pursue her personal goals. With over 10 years of experience in corporate management, marketing, and investment, Gracy has proven herself to be a leading female entrepreneur in the crypto world.
Since 2014, Gracy, as a renowned television host, has been increasingly attracted to the vibrant field of blockchain technology (i.e., cryptocurrencies) through interactions with knowledgeable guests such as Tim Draper. Each interview not only enriched her program but also increased her interest and passion for this emerging field. Gracy soon invested in several crypto startups, including Bitkeep (now Bitget Wallet), the largest Web 3 multi-chain wallet in Asia.
In June 2022, Gracy joined Bitget as its first Director General Manager, leading the platform’s development strategy in its accelerated global expansion plan. In the past two years, her outstanding ability in managing and motivating decentralized multinational teams has played a crucial role in the fast-paced and highly competitive cryptocurrency field. One of her most notable achievements is increasing Bitget’s user base fourfold through collaborations with legendary football star Leo Messi and establishing a strong global alliance network, solidifying Bitget’s position as one of the top five cryptocurrency exchanges and Web 3 platforms.

Gracy has also promoted diversity and inclusivity in the crypto industry through her leadership in two corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives at Bitget. In May 2023, she launched the #Blockchain4Youth campaign, aiming to encourage the younger generation to embrace cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology and promote the applications of Web 3. The campaign has collaborated with over 50 educational institutions and has benefited over 6,000 young talents in just one year.
As one of the main initiators of Bitget’s #Blockchain4Her, her vision for a sustainable future involves incorporating inclusivity and gender diversity into the blockchain industry, ensuring equal opportunities and representation for women in this transformative industry.
In addition to her responsibilities at Bitget, Gracy actively seeks opportunities to contribute to the cryptocurrency field. As a columnist for Forbes and Cointelegraph, among others, she has published over 50 articles introducing blockchain to the public. She also serves as a judge on the first cryptocurrency TV show “Killer Whales,” which aims to discover promising Web 3 projects and empower them with real-life impact, founded by Hollywood producers.
Her contributions earned her the title of Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum in 2015 and membership in the Forbes Business Council in 2023.
Gracy holds a Bachelor’s degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
