A Chinese User of OKX Recently Shared a Lengthy Post
Tears and Complaints: A hacker purchased his leaked personal information, logged into his email, and reset the password, then successfully bypassed OKX’s review using AI-generated fake identification and fake profile videos, allowing him to change his phone number, email, and Google Authenticator. As a result, his OKX account lost over $2 million in assets.
The affected user, known as “Lairifangchang,” revealed that he was hacked on May 3rd. After he reported the incident to the police, he saw someone very similar to him in the police officer’s phone, holding a fake ID card in front of the camera and saying, “I am Wu Suohan, ID number 4222…”. He questioned how this could bypass OKX’s risk control system.
Lairifangchang stated that the police are currently investigating and have obtained some clues. Through big data comparison in the police system, they have preliminarily identified the real information of two counterfeiters and are preparing to arrest them. However, it is highly likely that these two are just pawns, and there are definitely other thieves who have not revealed themselves.
Lastly, Lairifangchang affirmed that OKX has already established a special project team and urged them to conduct internal investigations to ensure that there are no issues with the platform’s employees. They should also quickly fix the vulnerabilities to ensure the security of other users’ assets. Additionally, they should actively communicate with the police and establish a working group to track down the culprits.
The user also appealed for OKX to have the courage to take responsibility and compensate him for his full loss.
Regarding this incident, OKX’s official Twitter account responded last night, acknowledging the appearance of information on the internet about “OKX platform user accounts being hacked.” They stated that they have been following up and assisting the relevant parties in handling the situation since the moment the incident occurred. Currently, it is in the judicial process, and according to the request, the progress of the incident cannot be disclosed at this time.
