Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz has accused Tesla of being the “next Enron” this week, questioning Tesla’s falsification of data and accusing them of widespread consumer fraud, stating that “someone will go to jail for this.” In response, Musk directly attacked Moskovitz on X, calling him a “self-important idiot” and posting a highly insulting image.

Facebook founder compares Tesla to “the next Enron”
Musk strikes back in anger
Long-standing feud between the two
Dustin Moskovitz, the American entrepreneur who was once a co-founder of the social media giant Facebook and later founded the project management tool Asana, clashed with Tesla founder Elon Musk earlier this week, engaging in a fierce war of words.
The controversy arose on the 25th of this week when Moskovitz posted on the social platform Threads, harshly criticizing Tesla for allegedly falsifying data in relation to its Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature and its range, thereby misleading consumers on a large scale and potentially engaging in securities fraud.
He boldly accused Tesla of being the next “Enron” and stated that ultimately “someone will go to prison” as a result.
Enron was one of the largest bankruptcies and scandals in U.S. history. In October 2001, this energy giant was still a company with annual revenue in the billions of dollars, ranking as the seventh-largest in the United States. However, it was later revealed that it had engaged in years of financial fraud, concealing billions of dollars in debt. The significant accounting scandal involved numerous instances of profit inflation and even false reporting, leading to its bankruptcy filing in November 2001.

In response to Moskovitz’s severe accusations of data falsification against Tesla, Musk did not directly respond. However, today (27th), on his X account with 180 million followers, he directly mocked and sarcastically taunted the Facebook co-founder:
Moskovitz has not yet made a direct comment on Musk’s post as of the deadline.
An hour later, Musk posted an image with a strong sense of humiliation.
In fact, this is not the first time that Moskovitz has criticized Tesla and Musk. According to a report by Business Insider, in July of last year, the Asana co-founder claimed on Threads that he believed the valuations of Tesla and SpaceX were overestimated and cited foreign media reports to question Tesla’s exaggeration and falsification of certain data.
When Musk faced criticism for anti-Semitism last year, Moskovitz, who is of Jewish descent, also called for Musk to step down from all of his companies.
