The second ETHTaipei concluded successfully at the end of March, attracting enthusiastic participation from over a thousand attendees. The 40-hour hackathon brought together more than 300 developers from around the world, showcasing their technical talent and innovative ideas.
During the event, Ethereum founder Vitalik made a creative appearance in a temple-themed outfit, stunning the audience and causing a buzz online. After days of hard work and in-depth discussions, the moment of unveiling the results finally arrived, with several projects receiving high recognition from the judging panel for their innovation.
A total of 70 teams participated in the hackathon, resulting in 56 projects. The event focused on bringing more innovative applications to Ethereum through Layer2, Privacy, and On-chain AI. Developers utilized their past experience and cutting-edge technology to bring new products and vitality to the ecosystem within three days.
With 70 teams and 56 projects, competing for over 2.3 million in prizes, several noteworthy projects were selected after careful evaluation by the judges. Among the nine Community Finalists, two teams implemented products using the latest technologies from the Dencun upgrade, including using Blob Data to make Layer2 applications more cost-effective and utilizing Transient Storage to optimize ERC20 and ERC721. These projects demonstrated the Ethereum developer community’s understanding of the latest EIPs and their unique application of technology.
Additionally, several teams from Taiwan stood out by creating end-to-end products within the short span of three days. These teams, including ZicretPair, an anonymous dating platform on the blockchain, Hiraijin, a QR code transfer system accepting on-chain assets, and Kage, a cross-chain privacy transfer service, participated in Demo Day and received significant attention. This allowed developers from different countries to engage in extensive exchanges with Taiwanese developers, fostering the creation of more excellent ideas and igniting sparks of creativity for all participants.
Apart from the mentioned projects, many other outstanding works emerged during the hackathon, showcasing the participants’ technical abilities and their passion and expectations for the Ethereum ecosystem.
The hackathon also garnered positive evaluations from international companies providing sponsorship and challenges to the Taiwanese developer community. The judging team from Consensys remarked, “Project quality was really competitive,” while the Polygon team responded, “The quality of projects were mostly above average from a hackathon perspective.”
In summary, ETHTaipei 2024 not only showcased the participants’ creativity and talent but also facilitated technological exchanges and community progress, bringing new momentum to the Ethereum ecosystem.
