Conclusion
Despite the recent downturn in the market, the enthusiasm and anticipation for “runes” remain high. As a degenerate player focused on the NFT field, I have had two profound experiences in the past week. First, Bitcoin NFT is currently the only place in the NFT market that gathers attention from both domestic and foreign audiences and does not involve “PvP” (Player versus Player). Other chains that have some heat, such as Base, mainly have players from the English-speaking community and are mostly art projects, making them much more challenging than Bitcoin.

Second, the “runes” project has become the absolute focus of the Bitcoin NFT market. Although the “wizard” meme gained market attention and the “puppet monkey” Bitcoin Puppets showed strong relevance, the recent explosion of the “puppet monkey” is due to the “runes”.
I previously made an inventory of the “runes” project for everyone. It has been a month since then, and “runes” have not only become the current mainline of the Bitcoin NFT market but also undergone some changes in the projects that are sought after. Now, projects that only involve “mining” (where NFTs are just “mining machines”) are no longer attractive enough. Projects that attract attention and have communities, or projects with “rune infrastructure” narratives (such as Launchpad, DEX, browsers, etc.), can stand out. After all, after the final landing and token issuance, the competition is no longer about “mining patterns” but about actual consensus or narrative competition.
Well-known “runes” projects have already reached high positions, such as Runestone, Rune Pups, RSIC, and more. Here, I will summarize some recent noteworthy developments in the Ordinals new project.
The OG project CyberKongz, which pioneered NFT staking mining on ETH, has entered the Bitcoin NFT ecosystem. This project, which was once a T0-level blue-chip, had a floor price of nearly 200 ETH at its peak, and its token $BANANA reached a peak price of $105 with a market cap of nearly $90 million.
Prometheans is CyberKongz’s official “runes” project. Although the ultimate goal is to achieve “rune” tokens, this is the most dedicated “runes” project I have seen in terms of “artistic design”. CyberKongz earnestly introduced the artistic design behind the project on its official Twitter account, and it can be said that they have made a “mining machine” with the standards of a “collectible”…
This project will be released this week with a Free Mint. The total supply is 21,000, with 85% allocated to Ordinals ecological cooperation projects selected by CyberKongz and 15% allocated to CyberKongz holders.
Rosentica is an anime NFT project founded by artists @rmflawha12 and @TabinekoKIKI on ETH. Following the trend of “runes”, Rosentica will also enter the Bitcoin NFT ecosystem and release the “Starlight Runes” project.
This project will have a Free Mint with a total supply of 2,000. The majority will be allocated to Rosentica NFT holders, and the remaining portion will be allocated to their selected Ordinals ecological cooperative community.
First of all, it should be noted that this project will have its own token $CLTR, but it is uncertain whether this token will be a “rune”.
I actually started paying attention to this project at the end of September last year. Now, after half a year, with the halving and “runes” coming, this project has finally revealed itself.
Artist @Degen_Alfie has proven himself on ETH, such as the artwork “Degen Alphabet” which sold for 69.420 ETH on SuperRare in October 2022.
Everyday Satoshis is a pixel art series created to commemorate the halving. It has a total of 5,586 pieces. From the Bitcoin genesis block to the upcoming fourth halving, it covers 15 years and 5,586 days. Each pixel block has data displaying the date and the daily highest Bitcoin-to-USD price from the genesis block to the fourth halving.
@Degen_Alfie revealed that shortly after the launch of Everyday Satoshis, his team’s blockchain art market will also go live with V1 version. The team currently has 12 members, and he raised a small round of angel investment in January this year. So, it is not only a great commemorative Bitcoin NFT art series for the halving, but also has a taste of a new blockchain art market’s genesis series.
Opal Protocol is distributing benefits to Runestone holders. If you hold Runestone, don’t forget to like and retweet this tweet and leave your bc1p address that holds Runestone.
To be honest, I don’t really understand what Opal Protocol is doing… But one thing I understood is that what they want to do will be driven by their token $BLIF, and $BLIF will be a token that combines ETH, BRC-20, and runes. From a degenerate perspective, Opal has a strong backing, with Animoca Brands and Darewise as the founders of this project. Darewise is a subsidiary of Animoca, and they have a game called “Life Beyond” that announced last year its move to the Bitcoin ecosystem and has also released a series called “Sparks,” which is an elite social circle entry ticket.
OCM (OnChainMonkey) released their own token $KARMA on the Tap protocol earlier this year and is now getting involved in the “runes” scene. More details are yet to be disclosed.
@RuneX_Tech has developed a web game using the Unreal Engine, where you can “pre-mine” their “rune” tokens by playing the game. I can’t help but marvel at the competition for attention between infrastructure projects; the activities they come up with are different…
After the game went online yesterday, the server was immediately overloaded. The reopening time will depend on the project’s notification, so everyone can keep an eye on it.
In the competition among infrastructure projects to attract attention in the “runes” category, I believe RuneX and Runes Terminal, which just released the Ape Odyssey series, are currently performing the best.
@gamestarter, their own game studio GGXYZ Studio, is developing a P2E game for Bitcoin, but there are currently no specific details.
Recently, there have been too many new Bitcoin NFT projects launched every day, and many of my friends are keeping up with the pace of at least three projects a day. It is indeed more likely to succeed in rushing into new projects, but everyone should not be too FOMO and should maintain a cautious attitude of carefully selecting projects.
Regarding the “runes” project, I believe we can expect to see more NFT projects on ETH and even other chains entering the Bitcoin ecosystem. After all, “runes” are currently one of the hottest narratives in the entire crypto circle. When choosing “runes” projects, the key is to examine the project’s own influence and community quality. Relying solely on fancy mining gameplay is becoming difficult for a project to stand out.
In a day facing multiple projects being minted in a concentrated time period, you may need to split UTXOs more reasonably because the confirmation time for two Bitcoin blocks is long and unstable, and network congestion can affect your mood and even cause you to miss some project minting times.
Finally, I wish everyone a fruitful Rune Season, and I will do my best to update everyone on the new projects worth paying attention to.
