Kabosu Meme Origins
Dogecoin was born as a joke at the end of 2013 when engineers Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus modified the code of Bitcoin and created Dogecoin. The original inspiration for Dogecoin came from Kabosu, the Shiba Inu from Japan.
Kabosu’s owner, Atsuko Sato, frequently shared photos of Kabosu’s daily life on the internet. In an article titled “What’s for dinner today?” on February 13, 2010, Sato shared a photo of Kabosu with folded hands, a proud smile, and a human-like expression. This photo later became a popular meme for Dogecoin.
