Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, proposed the first block on the mainnet of Taiko, an Ethereum Layer2 network based on Based Rollup, as a block proposer this afternoon. He left an encouraging message in the block:
The same message also includes a statement jointly released by many people: “We believe that building a resilient network that serves the majority requires diverse perspectives. So far, every contributor to Taiko has played a crucial role in launching the network and is committed to decentralization as their primary driving factor.”
Taiko, the pioneer of Based Rollup:
Taiko is an Ethereum L2 network based on zkRollup and is currently the only team developing a solution based on Based Rollup. Based Rollup is a rollup solution developed to address the limitations of Optimistic Rollup and ZK Rollup. It not only simplifies technical complexity and reduces transaction latency but is also the only solution that fully inherits Ethereum’s liveness.
Taiko announced the token economic model this week and also announced the launch of the genesis airdrop. A total supply of 1 billion TKO tokens will be allocated with 5% distributed to the genesis airdrop.
