$DOGE experiences fluctuations
After the news was exposed, the price of DOGE briefly surged over 6% to a high of $0.17. However, it then began to decline and dropped over 3% within 15 minutes after the news release. It is currently trading at $0.1584, a decrease of 5.52% in the past 24 hours.
Origin of Kabosu meme
Dogecoin was created as a joke at the end of 2013 when engineers Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus modified the code of Bitcoin to create Dogecoin. The initial inspiration for Dogecoin came from Kabosu, a Shiba Inu from Japan.
Kabosu’s owner, Atsuko Sato, often shared daily life photos of Kabosu on the internet. In an article titled “What’s for dinner today?” on February 13, 2010, Sato shared a photo of Kabosu with folded hands and a proud smile, showing a human-like expression. This photo later became the popular Kabosu Dogecoin meme.
