On June 26, the Oracle Protocol ORA announced the completion of a $20 million financing round, with investors including Polychain, SevenX Ventures, HF0, and Hashkey Capital, among others.
At the intersection of blockchain and artificial intelligence, ORA is pioneering new frontiers by combining AI, rich data sources, and scalable computing capabilities. This not only breaks the limitations of smart contracts but also empowers developers with innovation spaces.
This article extensively details ORA’s core technologies and products, including Zero-Knowledge Machine Learning (zkML), Optimistic Machine Learning (opML), and Optimistic Privacy Preserving Artificial Intelligence (opp/ai). Reading this article will elucidate how ORA is driving the development of onchain AI.
ORA is Ethereum’s trustless artificial intelligence, enabling AI and scalable computing on the blockchain. By providing AI, richer data sources, and scalable computation, ORA liberates developers to innovate freely.
ORA’s efforts have garnered trust from institutions such as Compound, Ethereum Foundation, Uniswap, and Optimism.
ORA makes onchain artificial intelligence a reality and has contributed a range of frontend research and products to the field of onchain AI. Products include zkML, opML, and opp/ai.
zkML is an encrypted approach to onchain machine learning. ORA is a pioneer in the zkML field and invented the world’s first zkML library, Keras2Circom, which outperforms other zkML frameworks according to benchmarks supported by the Ethereum Foundation.
Additionally, Keras2Circom is production-ready and has undergone practical testing within a rich ecosystem.
opML is an economically efficient machine learning framework now feasible for onchain machine learning. ORA is the inventor and creator of opML, viewed from both academic research and open-source implementation perspectives.
Unlike zkML, which can generate cryptographic proofs for ML computations, current computational capabilities are inefficient and costly, especially for large AI models.
In contrast, opML efficiently brings large models like Grok’s 3140 billion parameter models onto the chain, reducing management costs by over a million times.

opp/ai, Optimistic Privacy Preserving Artificial Intelligence, combines zkML for privacy protection and opML for efficiency enhancement. It is a hybrid model tailored for onchain AI.
ORA is the inventor of opp/ai.

ORA’s Onchain AI Oracle (OAO) is a verifiable, decentralized AI oracle. OAO allows anyone to use onchain AI reasoning on any blockchain.
OAO uses opML to establish verifiable proofs for ML computations, verifiable on the blockchain. This opens new possibilities for AI in blockchain.
OAO has been operational on Ethereum and Optimism for generating verifiable AI reasoning.
Last month, ORA OAO deployed on the Ethereum mainnet.
Recently, in collaboration with Optimism, ORA OAO has integrated into the Optimism mainnet.
Read more about the deployment announcement of OAO on Ethereum and Optimism.
As a developer, resources are available for building AI-driven onchain applications:
OAO Buyback: OAO.
OAO Documentation: AI Oracle.
Video tutorials using OAO for interaction and building.
Ideas built using OAO for inspiration: So You Want to Build with Onchain AI.
In the AI era, ORA introduces a new mechanism, IMO (Initial Model Offering).
TL;DR: IMO tokenizes AI models on-chain.
For AI models, IMO provides sustainable funding for open-source AI models.
For ecosystems, IMO aids in coordinating value allocation and continual contributions, fostering value and incentive measures.
For token holders, IMO allows anyone to earn from onchain AI model values and reasoning assets (e.g., ERC-7007).
For more details, visit our paper: https://arxiv.org/abs/2403.13577.
Many open-source AI models face challenges in monetizing contributions, leading to a lack of motivation for contributors and organizations. Consequently, the AI industry is currently dominated by closed-source profit-driven companies. The key to winning with open-source AI models is to raise more funds and build openly.
With IMO, we can win the open-source AI battle. IMO promotes the sustainable development of open-source AI model ecosystems by encouraging long-term interests, participation, and funding. When we have better open-source models than proprietary models, we win.
IMO tokenizes ownership of open-source AI models and shares profits with token holders.
IMO is permissionless, allowing anyone and any community to IMO their AI models.
In IMO, there are two core components:
Verifiable onchain AI models.
Onchain revenue sharing.
For Onchain AI, we need to link tokens with the right AI models and reasoning using ORA OAO, the world’s first AI Oracle applicable to any AI model.
Revenue sharing mechanisms are executed through ERC-7641 written by ORA.

OpenLM is a repository for executable language modeling (LM), designed to facilitate research into mid-sized LMs.
OpenLM is open, high-performance, decentralized AI, not funded and supervised by large tech oligarchs in closed, centralized, licensed LLM.
OpenLM is an open-source model under the MIT license built by a decentralized team. Their contributions are recognized through this donation, which also helps to incentivize and promote the development of accessible open-source LMs.
On April 10, we released the world’s first IMO for OpenLM: OpenLM IMO.
OpenLM IMO tokenizes OpenLM’s open-source models.
Just as Prometheus stole the fire for civilization, ORA’s first OpenLM IMO demonstrates the benefits of IMO for the open-source AI community.
$OLM is not ORA’s token. It represents the tokenization of OpenLM models on Ethereum, shared ownership by OpenLM contributors and the community. Nonetheless, ORA’s onchain AI oracle can tokenize AI models.
IMO will be a cornerstone of OpenLM’s journey, providing funding and incentive measures to foster a sustainable ecosystem, democratize access, and drive ongoing development.
IMO for OpenLM promises to revolutionize the landscape of LLM using the power of open-source software and communities.
Read more about OpenLM IMO here.
The inaugural global IMO for OpenLM was a tremendous success.
All 500 million tokens sold out at a price of 150 ETH (approximately $500,000) within 5 minutes. This demonstrates significant demand with limited supply. $OLM continues to trade on Uniswap’s decentralized exchange.
Unfortunately, due to overwhelming demand compared to the limited supply, the vast majority of transactions attempting to purchase $OLM at the start of the sale did not process successfully.
This is the first IMO, and there will be more in the future with different parameters to allow greater participation of valuable individuals and wallets.
The goal of IMO is to nurture open-source communities and strengthen ecosystems. OpenLM IMO provides more resources for the OpenLM open-source community.
This flagship demonstration of IMO technology marks the beginning of a more sustainable, competitive, and open-source AI future.
Here is the roadmap for achieving the success of OpenLM IMO.
OAO Integration
To achieve revenue sharing for $OLM, ORA integrates OpenLM AI models into the Onchain AI Oracle. This enables onchain income generation whenever users interact with OpenLM models, tracked by OAO.
OpenLM Ecosystem Extension Kit
For AI models, IMO provides sustainable funding for open-source AI models. With the efforts of OpenLM IMO, various projects can contribute to the income pool for $OLM.
Donations to the OpenLM Community
As previously announced and planned, 10% of $OLM IMO tokens will go to existing and future OpenLM contributors.
We are finalizing all details of support for the open and decentralized AI community.
Revenue Sharing Activities
OpenLM RevShare tokens ($OLM) feature:
Revenue sharing: Portion of income from OAO or other sources allocated to $OLM token revenue sharing pool. Token holders can claim earnings every 90 days after snapshots.
Burn: Portion of income from OAO or other sources allocated to $OLM token burn pool. Token holders can burn their tokens as part of a buyback mechanism. The burn mechanism supports a “floor price” for OpenLM tokens.
