US President-elect Trump has expressed his intention to establish a national Bitcoin strategic reserve. However, Peter Schiff, the founder of SchiffGold, a gold and precious metals trading company that has always criticized Bitcoin’s lack of value, suggested on the 21st that the “US Coin” could be created to replace the Bitcoin strategic reserve. He even designed the logo for the US Coin himself.
As a Bitcoin skeptic, Peter Schiff has repeatedly expressed his opposition to the idea of the US government establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve. On the 10th, he called on President-elect Biden to sell all the Bitcoin currently held by the federal government before leaving office. He claimed that the funds raised through this move could reduce the budget deficit in 2024 and put an end to all the absurd ideas about creating a strategic Bitcoin reserve.
Instead of creating a Bitcoin strategic reserve, Peter Schiff proposed an alternative solution on the 21st, suggesting the creation of the US Coin instead of a strategic Bitcoin reserve. He stated that this could save the US a lot of money:
“Just like Bitcoin, the supply of US Coin can be capped at 21 million. With an upgraded blockchain, US Coin can actually be used for payments. This way, we can all get rich.”
Interestingly, Peter Schiff used Grok, an AI chatbot developed by OpenAI, to create the logo for the US Coin. The logo features the portraits of Trump and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla. Peter Schiff also shouted the marketing slogan “HODL to the moon America” for the US Coin.
Peter Schiff’s remarks sparked heated discussions. He subsequently announced an upgraded design for the US Coin logo, featuring gold-colored portraits of Trump and Musk. He also addressed Trump, saying:
“Trump needs to establish the US Coin by executive order and build a strategic reserve. Bitcoin is for losers, while US Coin is for winners. Buy the US Coin or enjoy the fun of poverty.”
In response to netizens, Peter Schiff added that the supply of US Coin is capped at 21 million, making it as scarce as Bitcoin but more practical.
